When and how did you get involved with medicine? While working in Thelma’s lab I had an amazingly specific dream which announced, “You’re going to become an MD, a psychiatrist, to help legitimize intuition in medicine.” The last thing I envisioned doing was medicine. But because I was beginning to trust my intuition, I enrolled in a junior college just to see how it would go. So one course became two, became fourteen years of medical training--USC medical school and a UCLA psychiatric internship and residency.

Did you use your intuition doing your medical training? The irony was that during my medical training, I strayed far from the intuitive world again. Traditional psychiatry equates visions with psychosis. Working in the UCLA emergency room, I’d keep seeing psychotics who were wheeled in screaming, strapped to gurneys, accompanied by cops with billy clubs. These patients professed to hear God and to be able predict things. They also felt their food was poisoned, and that the FBI was on their tail. No one tried to sort through this mishmash of claims. Typically, patients would shoot up with Thorazine, hospitalized on lock-down inpatient units until their “symptoms” subsided. Seeing this so many times I doubted whether it was safe or appropriate to integrate my intuitions in medicine.

So what made you change your mind? In my private practice, I had a patient on antidepressants. I had an intuitive thought that she was going to make a suicide attempt. Because she was doing so well--nothing supported my hunch--I dismissed it. Within a week, she overdosed on the antidepressants I’d prescribed and ended up in a coma for nearly a month. (Had she not survived I would’ve been devastated.) The hardest part, though, was that I thought I’d harmed her by not utilizing a vital piece of intuitive information. This was intolerable for me. From then on, I knew, as a responsible physician, I had to integrate my intuition into my work.

Any words of wisdom for the reader? These days, no matter what I’m going through, especially when my heart is torn in a million pieces my intuition has sustained me. I hope that my journey in my book “Second Sight” can help you. One thing I’m certain of: if you follow your intuitive voice, you can’t go wrong. Stay true to it. Intuition is about empowerment, not having to conform to someone else’s notion of who you should be. It’s about being true to yourself, and all the goodness that comes from that.

Second Sight BookTour

March 21, 2009 Talk 10AM,
Workshop and Book Signing 12:30-2:30PM
The Ventura Center for Spiritual Living
Ventura, California (near Los Angeles)
To enroll: www.venturachurch.com or 805-643-1933

March 25, 2010 7PM Talk and Book Signing
Second Sight Book Tour
Mystic Journey Bookstore
1319 Abbot Kinney Blvd
Venice, California
www.mysticjourneybookstore.com/ or 310-399-7070

Interview with Intuitive Expert and Psychiatrist--Dr. Judith Orloff

You probably have heard a number of times the saying, “If you have your health, you have your wealth.” Of course, we know that’s true. You can’t live a quality life, if you are spending most of your time in doctor’s offices, hospitals, or a large portion of your money is going toward medical bills and medication. Having been one of those people who practically lived in hospitals, not for myself, but for my disabled son, I know from experience what it means to seek and practice alternative healing methods and combine them with traditional practices. I am fortunate to have as a guest, Dr. Judith Orloff MD, a psychiatrist and intuition expert. She is the author of the new book Second Sight (Three River Press 2010) and Emotional Freedom: Liberate Yourself From Negative Emotions and Transform Your Life (Harmony Books, 2009) Her other bestsellers are Positive Energy, Intuitive Healing, and Second Sight. Dr. Orloff synthesizes the pearls of traditional medicine with cutting edge knowledge of intuition, energy and spirituality. She passionately believes that the future of medicine involves integrating all this wisdom to achieve emotional freedom and total wellness.

What do you do as a medical intuitive? With patients and in workshops, I listen with my intellect and my intuition, a potent inner wisdom that goes beyond the literal. I experience it as a flash of insight, a gut feeling, a hunch, a dream. By blending intuition with orthodox medical knowledge I can offer my patients and workshop participants the best of both worlds.

When did you first know that you had this intuitive gift? I grew up in Beverly Hills the only daughter of two-physician parents with twenty-five physicians in my family. From age nine, I had dreams and intuitions that would come true. I could predict illness, earthquakes, even the suicide of one of my parent’s friends.

How did your parents react to your gift? This confused and alarmed me, as it did my parents who were entrenched in the hard-core rational world of science. At first they tried to write my intuitions off as coincidence. Finally, though, after I dreamed my mother’s mentor would lose a political election--which to my horror, came true--she took me aside and told me, “Never mention another dream or intuition in our house again!” I’ll never forget the look in my dear mother’s exasperated, frightened eyes, nothing I ever wanted to see again. So from that day on, I kept my intuitions to myself. I grew up ashamed of my abilities, sure there was something wrong with me.

In Second Sight you talk about a pivotal point in your young life, could you tell the reader what happened? In the sixties I got heavily involved with drugs in an attempt to block my intuitions out—not something I’m recommending to you! Following a nearly fatal car accident at age sixteen when I tumbled over a treacherous 1500 foot cliff in Malibu Canyon, my parents forced me to see a psychiatrist. This man was the first person who ever “saw” me--not who he wanted me to be, but who I was. He taught me to begin to value the gift of intuition, and referred me to Dr. Thelma Moss, an intuition researcher at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. She was to become my mentor and guide to developing my intuitive side.

Part II of Dr. Orloff's interview will be posted on 3/10/10.
March 10, 2010 7PM talk and Book signing

Second Sight Book Tour
Borders Books
1360 Westwood Blvd
West Los Angeles, CA
310-474-3444

March 12, 2010 7-9PM Talk and Book signing
Second Sight Book Tour
Awakening Second Sight
Seaside Center for Spiritual Living
Encinitis, CA (near San Diego)
http://www.seasidecenter.com/ <http://www.seasidecenter.com/>

Interview with Dr. Judith Orloff-Are you Intuitive?

Are you intuitive? I’m asking that question, but I already know the answer. Of course, you are. You’re born with the ability to sense, see, smell, hear and intuit information beyond this physical reality. It is the best kept secret in the world. Just like we only use a very small percentage of the brain, the same goes for the intuitive faculty. Imagine what this world would be like, if we used our intuition to diagnose our own health problems and healed them, made career choices based on our intuition and not money, selected our mates according to our sense of knowing the person on a soul level, and knew if someone was telling the truth or distorting facts. How powerful is that? Next week’s blog will feature, Dr. Judith Orloff, M.D., a psychiatrist and intuition expert. You may wonder how your life is affected by this phenomenon. Number vibrations give insights to those on the path of self-discovery and they unlock the mysteries of the universe. To understand numerical vibrations is to understand how to live your life in alignment with the universe and all living beings.
The base number for 333 is the divine 3. 3 is the vibration of communication, idealism, creative ideas, self-expression, and is ruled by the planet Jupiter. It represents the creative principle and the trinities such as: beginning, middle, and end; past, present, future; length, width, height; birth, life, death; and the Holy Trinity--Father, Mother and Son. A strong aspect of the 3 energy is its association with the 3rd charka located in the area of the solar plexus. It is the chakra that deals with power or powerlessness, low or high self-esteem and positive or negative emotions.

I love triple numbers because they add power to the base number, and they offer a variety of information and unlock esoteric knowledge. Those born on March 3, 12, 21, and 30 are seekers of the truth and will not settle for anything else whether it in a friendship, career, religion or love affair. An intense year for those who have 3’s in prominent places on their name and birth charts. If you’re a writer, keep your pen and paper near by because creative ideas will flow like a rain shower. Sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural writers, and screen writers will create unusual books and films. Those in advertisement and public relations should also do well this year in creating high tech ads. The key words are imagination and visualization. Use both of them to create or manifest what you desire. The arts will dominate this year with new and extraordinary talent being discovered. I can only say enjoy the wonderful ride this vibration is bringing to you. Lastly, the 333 is a higher octave of the mystery number 9, bringing finality to the creative principle.

Happy triple 333 day.

Earthquakes and The Global Coherence Initiative

My intuitive antennae are clamoring for attention, something is happening in the world. Are the global catastrophic weather events sending us messages that we need to take an energetic look at those events? I'm specifically talking about the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010; the gigantic iceberg break from the Mertz Glacier in the Antarctica; and the recent 8.8 magnitude earthquake of Chile.

Many of you will argue that those climate occurrences are not related, and it's nothing unusual to have these things to happen. In my world, everything is connected and there is a reason for every event. Perhaps the message is about humanity being separated from one another, creating broken links in many societies and in the world. Isn't that the same thing that earthquakes do? They disconnect people from one another, and destroy societies. Are earthquakes in syn with our human consciousness of not caring about each other and the Earth? Has the world gone crazy with power and control over others? I ask all of these questions because scientists are now saying that the earth's magnetic field is affected by our positive and negative thoughts and emotions.

The Global Coherence Initiative, www.Glcoherence.org, works to repair those broken links. It is a science-based initiative uniting millions of people in heart-focused care and intention, to shift global consciousness from instability and discord to balance, cooperation and enduring peace. You can go to the Global Coherence Initiative and observe through their advance sensing technology--the Global Coherence Monitoring System(GCMS)--the changes in the earth's magnetic field and test the hypothesis that the earth's field is affected by mass human emotion, positive or negative.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, stop for a few seconds and put your hands on your heart and let the love of your heart flow out into the world. It only take 1% of humanity to make a difference in the world. You can become a Change Agent for humanity and the Earth by during the above exercise everyday.

What is the Spiritual Significance of Whales?

Question from a reader: What is the spiritual significance of whales?

Killer whales are on everyone’s mind because of the death of Dawn Brancheau, a trainer, who was killed by a killer whale at the SeaWorld Aquarium in Orlando, Florida. I’m sure most of us felt really disheartened by this sad event. I saw an interview with the young lady's sister on a local news station where she expressed how her sister knew at a very early age she wanted to work with killer whales. As a trained professional, she knew the danger of her work. Nevertheless, she loved what she was doing. Our prayers go out to this family.

The other side of this story concerns aggressive animals kept in captivity that are used for entertainment purposes. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the animal rights organization, has put a statement on their web site www.peta.org, asking that the animals of SeaWorld be released to sanctuaries that can provide them with a more natural environment.

In response to the question for this week, I pulled out one of the best books on animal, bird & reptile symbolism -- Animal-Speak- by Ted Andrews to see what he had to say about whales. I met Ted a few years ago at a workshop in Maryland. In his book, he offers several significance spiritual points regarding whales. First, did you know that the whale is the world's largest mammal and there are over ninety species of the whales? This includes the dolphins and porpoises. The killer whale or more commonly referred to as the orca, is the largest species of the dolphin family. As for their spiritual purpose, they are the ancient keepers of the knowledge of the creative force of breath and sound. Most of us know the Biblical story of Jonah and the whale. Jonah was able to live within the belly of the whale for three days before he was resurrected. Being the largest mammal in the world, it was able to metaphorically act as a safe haven for Jonah while he was able to go deep within his own consciousness and pray. Interestingly, three is the number of the creative force.

In conclusion, I want to share this story with you that my meditation teacher tells: A teacher told her students that whales cannot really swallow people, because their throats are too small. When one of the young students shouted out, “Yes, they can.” “No, they can’t” the teacher repeated. “The whale swallowed Jonah.” The student retorted. Again the teacher explained about the small throats of whales. The student spoke out. “I’m going to ask Jonah when I get to heaven.” The teacher responded, “But what if Jonah went to Hell?” Then you ask him.

Have a great weekend.

The Buzz-Zero Point Energy Wand for Healing

The buzz in the metaphysical world is about the Zero Point Energy Wand. It just hit the US market in mid-January of this year. I haven't had the opportunity to handle one, but my friend in Philly, Rev James Artemus, a Master Chios Healer and Teacher, is an associate of Amega Global, which is selling them. What is zero-point energy? I went looking for a simple definition, but when you're dealing with physics it's not so simple. But here is goes. Albert Einstein and Otto Stern using a formula of Max Planck, published a paper that suggested for the first time the existence of a residual energy that all oscillators have at absolute zero. They called this "residual energy", which later became zero-point energy. Amega Global states that their wand is made up of a special combination of granulated minerals, processed using their own proprietary technology, AMized Fusion Technology, to resonate at zero-point energy. When I read about what it could do, it reminded me of the Spiritual Mind Healing Modality I had wrote about in an earlier blog. If ill, you can heal with your body by knowing and visualizing your cells as perfect. The Zero Point Energy Wand does the same thing; it reminds the cells they are perfect and healthy, creating healing.

However, there is much controversy in the scientific field regarding devices claiming to operate using zero-point energy. If you want to find more information about Amega Global products you can go to their website www.Amegaworldwide.com or http://www.eamega.com/Web/subs/lib/pdf/AMWand_usa.pdf will give you direct information about the wand. You may also contact Reverend James Artemus at j_artemus@yahoo.com.

Disclaimer: This blog is for informational purposes only. I’m not a distributor of the Amega Global ‘s Zero Point Energy Wand and neither have I used it for healing. However, I recommend that you contact the appropriate people for more information.

Build a Prosperity Consiousness, Deal or No Deal?

I like to watch the game show, Deal or No Deal. A contestant selects a case that she thinks contains one million dollars. Then she has to select other numbered cases to eliminate all low number amounts in hope that her case contains the million or at least a high amount. After the she selects five cases, the banker offers her a sum of money for the case. The contestant can take the deal or no deal and continue to select cases to win the million.

Let’s play this game Deal or No Deal, only instead of money in the cases, there are positive or negative qualities that will either make your dream come true or not true.

You select a case that you think has the dream you desire, Now all you have to do is to select cases that support that dream such as effort, joy, perseverance, creativity, practice, and positive thinking. But you keep attracting cases containing: fear, doubt, resistance, laziness, disbelief, failure, pain, and competition that stop you from winning the case with your dream.

I’m the banker and this is what I’m offering you: Build a prosperity consciousness.

The banker always gives the contestant an extra incentive with the deal, and here’s one for you. Google says it takes 21 to 28 days to break a habit; however there is no relevant research on those numbers for making major life changes. But we do know that concentrating, practicing, and persevering to manifest your desire will get you the results you want. I’m giving you 40 days to build a prosperity consciousness, deal or no deal?

The Science of Getting Rich

When the book, The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne hit the bestseller list little did the readers know that it was based on The Secret of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles, a teacher of the New Thought Movement. If you are serious about building a prosperity consciousness, you’ll want to study Wattles’ book for an expanded version of not only the Law of Attraction but other principles and laws that show you how to manifest your desires. You can find free copies on the Net to download, if you don't want to purchase it.

Wattles' language is archaic, but move pass that and focus on the several principles he offers in the book. They ring true even in today’s chaotic economic times. Here’s a paraphrase version of the major principles of the book with my comments:

1. Man can form things with his thoughts. Your thoughts are energy forms and what you habitually focus on you create a form for it based on the Laws of the Universe. Most things are already in existence. What you are doing is letting the Universe know what you desire, and by putting your attention on it, you are then vibrating on the wavelength of that desire. The Law of Attraction will kick in.

2. Man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind. The Creator is always creative and never competitive in Spirit. The Universe is limitless. Worrying, watching, obsessing and criticizing what others have is misplaced energy; this type of thinking keeps your desires from manifesting. Stay focus on what you desire.

3. Acknowledge your blessings. To build an empire you need to start at the base of the pyramid and work your way up. Create a Gratitude Book to build on your blessings. Every day take time to write out at least ten things you’re grateful for. Try doing this for forty days. Forty is the number for manifestation. The Zero represents God and the four stands for foundation.

4. Form a clear and definite mental image of what you desire. This should be number one on your list, because if you don’t know what you want neither does the universe. Set your intentions. The key words in this principle are clear and definite. May sure your mental thoughts and your emotional feelings are in alignment.

5. Contemplate frequently on your vision Get a clear mental picture of your desire and keep it continually in your mind. Don’t lose sight of it no matter what adversities you might face. Affirmations are good to keep you focus on your vision. Create them and post them around your house and office, if you can. In your Gratitude Notebook gives thanks for the manifestation of your dream as if it's already done. The Law of attraction will pull to you what you put your attention on.

6. You can only receive what you can perceive. You may want to be a millionaire, but if you don’t have a consciousness for it, you won’t be able to achieve or maintain it. A great game to play is the money pyramid. Starting with a $100 you must spend all of it in one day. Add a zero to the 100 every day until you reach a million. Each day you must spend that amount of money. This game will teach you a lot about how you think about money and how you manage your money.

Building a prosperity consciousness is not an overnight process. You have to work at it. I find that most people don’t stick to the plan to achieving their goals because they are stuck in old belief patterns. After a few days or weeks, they fall back into their original financial club. Challenge yourself for the next forty days to change your financial life. There are plenty of books and other aids to help you. If you really want to change then start with your consciousness.

What Prosperity Club Are You In?

I hope you spent some time answering the questions I posted in the blog-- Building a Prosperity Consciousness. Those questions will help you look at your belief system regarding wealth. Sometime in your life you made a choice to be in one of three financial clubs based on those beliefs: The haves, The Have Nots and The In-Betweens—even though you may not be aware of it. You probably selected the club that your parents or family belong to because you have been conditioned to think about prosperity according to their belief system. This is not to say that you can’t move in and out of the different clubs as determined by your consciousness. Let’s look at the clubs:

The Haves

Desire abundance

Think abundance

Focus on abundance

Visualize abundance

Verbalize abundance

See the glass half-full

Take action

The In-Betweens

Desire abundance but plant seeds of abundance and lack

Think abundance but has doubts and worries about the outcome

Focus on how to make things happen

Visualize a mixed bag

Verbalize doubts

See the glass half-full most of the time

Take responsibility for some of the conditions in life

Stop just before the goal line

The Have Nots

Plant seed of lack

Think lack

Focus on lack

Visualize lack

Verbalize lack

See the glass half-empty

Blame the world for life conditions

Wait on others to take charge of their financial woes

Do you recognize the club you belong to? Looking at both your beliefs and the club you belong to, you now have a good idea where you stand according to your prosperity consciousness. I swing back and forth between the Haves and the In-Betweens. My goal is to stay in the Haves. Knowing there was a consistent negative belief that kept me stuck in the same prosperity pattern, I had to root it out. What helped me to identify it and expand my prosperity consciousness was re-examining the principles in The Secret of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles.
